Sundiata Keita was founder of Mali empire according to wikipedia. He was a royal of the Mandinka ethnic group.Some sources say he was Muslim ,while most other sources says he was a non-Muslim that followed the religious traditions of his ethnic group before the coming of Islam to the region :)
