If Richard Webster ran a mile in 276.5 seconds and Hichan El Guerray ran a mile in 223.13 seconds, how many feet would richard be behind Hichan?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that a trick question or do they mean at the time Hichan finished the race?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Richard and Hichan are racing. Hichan beat Richard by how many feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, well you need to find the rate at which richard ran his mile in feet... can you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have 21.05 feet per second for Richard and 26.08 feet per second for Hichan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i converted 1 mile into 5820 feet and figured their time in seconds. Next I divided the distance 5820 by 276.5 seconds for Richard. For Hichan I divided 5820 by 223.13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are 5280 feet in a mile. your process is right, just the wrong number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

recalculate for richard... you don't need hichan rate.
