@natalie135's factoring is correct, but don't set it equal to zero... the problem didn't have that in it.

a^2 (1+a (1+3 a^2))

I would have said your original statement was simplified. But if you want it factored, I would go with @natalie135's first response. The 2nd is ok, but it looks less simple, in my opinion :)
