geerky42 (geerky42):

\[\Huge \sum_{n=1}^{49}2n + 1\]

geerky42 (geerky42):

Quickest way to solve this?

geerky42 (geerky42):

How can I deal with constant?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so you know how to find the sum of an arithmetic series...?

geerky42 (geerky42):

Not really. (I'm currently teach myself how to find the sums, sorry)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so the series is 3 + 5 + 7 + 9+.... this is found by substituting values of n... e.g. n = 1.......2 x 1 + 1 = 3 n = 2 2 x 2 + 1 = 5 and so on... that is the expansion. you'll need to read about the sum of an arithmetic series to get an answer.

geerky42 (geerky42):

do you know any good link to the introduction to series (both arithmetic and geometric)? inb4 google

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

have a look at purple math

geerky42 (geerky42):

Thanks.
