If the length of AB is one-fourth the length of AC, what is the length of AB. How would I even begin to solve a problem like this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesn't give you the length of AC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. Oh, 'scuse me. I forgot to mention that BC is 30. But I don't have lengths for AC or AB. So, I wouldn't know how to even start the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you divide AC into AB and BC that gives you 1 fourth and 3 fourths left over. and BC is 30 so 30 divided by 3 is what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking, since 30 contains three/fourths of the problem. 30/3=10. Maybe, 10 is AB?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yes!! Thanks. I just figured it out as you were typing.

lol awesome!
