Find the zeros of the polynomial function and state the multiplicity of each. f(x) = 5(x + 8)2(x - 8)3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) = 5(x + 8)^2(x - 8)^3 I mean. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i figured out the zeros...how do I find the multiplicity?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Eyeball Problem x = -8 Twice x = +8 Thrice Stare at it until you see it.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

It's in the exponent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-8 mutiplicity 2 +8 multiplicity 3?!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Did youlook at the exponents? (x-8)^3 -- That's x = 8 three times.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx :)
