I tried Google and Wikipedia, ever Mathworld, I don't know what they saying. Did I jump to conclusion? What do I need to know to understand it?

The x and y axis of the graph on which it is drawn is like a number line (complex numberlines are 2-dimensional). The middle blob are the complex numbers for which \[ (((((...)^2+c)^2+c)^2+c)^2+c)^2+c)^2+c\] converges when you choose them to be c.
