Question 1 (Fill-In-The-Blank Worth 2 points) A store offers a 15% discount on all items in the store during a sale. All store employees get an additional 10% employee discount. In the equation below, C represents the cost of an item for an employee including tax, and x represents the original price of the item. C = 0.765x + 0.06(0.765x) Chris is an employee at the store. He plans to buy a coat during the sale. The price of the coat before the discount is $100. How much will Chris pay for the coat during the sale? Numerical Answers Expected! Answer for Blank 1: Question 2 (Fill-In-The-Blank Worth 2 points) Coach Johnson is 10 years older than Tim. When Tim started football 3 years ago, Coach Johnson was twice his age. How old is Tim now? Numerical Answers Expected! Answer for Blank 1: Question 3 (Fill-In-The-Blank Worth 2 points) The sum of three consecutive integers is 267. What is the largest integer? Numerical Answers Expected! Answer for Blank 1: Question 4 (Fill-In-The-Blank Worth 2 points) Maya and Sally were the two finalists in a singing competition. The person with the most votes from the audience was chosen as the winner. Sally received 25% of the total votes and lost by 62,500 votes. No person in the audience was allowed to vote more than once. The equation below represents this situation, where y is the total number of votes cast and x is the number of votes Maya received. x - 62,500 = 0.25y If a total of 125,000 people voted, how many votes did Maya receive? Numerical Answers Expected! Answer for Blank 1: Question 5 (Fill-In-The-Blank Worth 2 points) The table below shows the fees to check bags on a certain airline. If x represents the total number of bags a person checks and each person checks more than two bags, the equation below can be used to determine C, the total fee for all the bags. 20 + 25 + 50(x - 2) = C Arianna paid a total of $145 to check all her bags on a flight. How many bags did she check in all? Numerical Answers Expected! Answer for Blank 1:

@zordoloom what would you do for these types of equations??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Substitute 100 for x in the equation...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for question number 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zordoloom yo can you help me also with these equations, and @Miyuru thank you for helping me too ,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mayankdevnani help me too, need to get these done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyone gonna help me??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Man, you really seem to need way too much help. For Question 1, Equation: C = 0.765x + 0.06(0.765x) Plug 100 where there is x, and solve. I'll guide you. I wanna see you solve at least a few of these.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me know what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U are welcome @jlongSwag27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Miyuru yeah @zordoloom okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you solve: the equation that I posted above?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zordoloom 5856.84??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOW, how did you come up with that? It is quite a bit off. Just look at this way,, Would someone pay that much for a coat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about this, what is 0.765 times 100. Plug this into a calculator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then multiply this number you get from the calculator by .06

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1275. then i move the decimal @zordoloom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get 1275?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you multiply 100 by .765 Ex. 100 x .765 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The decimal has to be shifted to the right side @jlongSwag27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

76.5 @zordoloom @Miyuru

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep tht's right @jlongSwag27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, multiply 76.5 by .06. Let me know what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.59?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, save this number. Write it down somewhere, or remeber it. Whatever you do with numbers. To this number you will add. ------> 0.765*100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would i do question 2-5 now then??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you get so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you followed every step I said, you'll get the cost of the coat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um the answer would be idk @zordoloom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have a calculator handy? I don't know how much easier to make this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100 is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have a calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This problem is easier than you really think it is. It's just like doing any other multiplication or addition problem.

Answer for Blank 1: ANSWERS: 1) C = coach; T = Tim C = T + 10; C-3 = 2(T-3), so C = 2T - 6 + 3 = 2t - 3 2t - 3 = t + 10 t = 13, Tim's age now, so coach is 23; three years ago they were 10 & 20 2) x - 62,500 = 0.25y; If a total of 125,000 people voted, how many votes did Maya receive? x = Maya, y = total, = 125,000 x - 62500 = 0.25(125,000) = 31,250 x - 62500 = 31,250 x = 62500 + 31250 = 93,750 votes for Maya 3) sum of three consecutive integers is 267. What is the largest integer? a + b + c = 267 Since they are consecutive, b = a + 1, c = a + 2. Substitute a + a+1 + a+2 = 267 3a + 3 = 267 3a = 264 a = 88, b = 89, c = 90 4) C = 0.765x + 0.06(0.765x) Substitute 100 for x C = 0.765(100) + 0.06(0.765)100 = 76.5 + (.06)76.5 = 1.06(76.5) = 81.09 He pays $76.50 for the coat, the 6% tax of $4.59

This post is getting way too long. With too much extra posts. It might be wise to repost this question. Good luck.

You only have to add 4.95 and 76.5 for the first..
