complex numbeers have one real and one imaginary part ok u know that if (a,b) is complex number than a is real and b is imaginary ok (1,0) is complex number whose imaginary part is 0 it only has real part (0,1) is complex number having only imaginary part if u know complex number multiplication than it is easy to prove that i*i=-1 i represents imaginary number i=(0,1) (a,b)*(c,d)=(ac-bd,ad+bc) (0,1)*(0,1)=(0-1,0+0) =(-1,0) (-1,0) is real (0,1)(0,1)=-1 i*i=-1
