Please help, and thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1st one...(5x2 + 3x + 4) − (2x2 + 5x − 1) you don't need the brackets as both do not need to be multiplied 5x^2 + 3x + 4 - 2x^2 + 5x - 1 add/subtract what should be added/subtracted like 5X^2 - 2x^2 will be 3x^2 leaving 3x^2 + 3x + 4 + 5x - 1 and continue from there the other questions are the same just get rid of the brackets as the brackets aren't multiplied together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you get rid of the x? Because I got 20x...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And it has to be a numerical answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't multiply them together and the answers to choose from consists of 'x' so you shouldn't get rid of them the numerical answer is the number beside 'x'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first one from where i left it 3x^2 + 3x + 4 + 5x - 1 simplify it 3x + 5x is 8x and 4 - 1 is 3 so the whole expression will be 3x^2 + 8x + 3 as you can see it is in the form Ax^2 + Bx + C so Ax^2 is 3x^2 so A will be 3

oh, okay thanks
