-4√x+9=20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4sqrt(x)+9= 20? or is it -4sqrt(x+9) = 20?

OpenStudy (richyw):

please take the time to use the equation editor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Square root line ends after 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so sqrt(x+9) = -5 x+ 9 = 25 x = 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember in this case, after you take square root of 25, your answer would only work if you plug in the negative root of -5, to make a positive 20 after multiplication.

Thanks
