i hate doing all of someone's homework

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try some yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry-.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply both sides by 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to isolate x by itself, you need to multiple both side by 3 to get ride of divided by 3 portion

OpenStudy (aripotta):

you always do the opposite operation. multiplication and division are opposites. addition and subtraction are opposites.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my answer would be-12 right? but its absoulte value so its gonna be -12,12

OpenStudy (aripotta):

in this case, they used division, so you'd use multiplication to get x by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no absolute value here, -4*3 can only be -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so my anser would be no solution?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no, you had it right. -12 and 12. you have to put the l l for absolute value though - you're confusing people!

OpenStudy (aripotta):

just use lowercase L

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, in that case put abs() around something so people can know
