Any help for the UC application essays? What is your intended major?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, what do you want to do and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I want to major in Biology since my ultimate goal is Dental school. As crazy as it sounds I've always been fascinated by teeth. I've done internships at dental offices before and it was great.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That sounds good. Just be convincing (it has to make sense that you are interested in biology, so you should demonstrate how first you did A, and then B, and then C and over the course of these activities, you're interest in biology grew and grew. It's a fairly standard question, so just tell a convincing story about why you like bio.

Ok thank you I will work on it and post some of it here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should put undeclared as your major, most people usually put their major and it gets competitive, putting undeclared wont have much competition and they will look at other stuff instead of your major

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But if i put undeclared then I won't have anything to write about in the personal statement essay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you dont have to im just letting you know (from experience) i didnt get into like berkly or davis cause i put computer engineering as my major and it was really competitive so i couldnt get in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh ok yes I understand because I'm applying to UCSD and the Bio major is reallyyyy impacted :( So I just really need to keep my grades up since I'm doing TAG so I'll for sure get into the school.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha i just wanted to let you know thats all, anyways gl on your application, hoep you get in the school you wanted

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks you too :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Check with the school first. If you are admitted as undeclared, you may face restrictions on your enrollment that wouldn't happen if you were a given major. Otherwise, you know, why would anyone declare a major?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you I understand where you are coming from and I am pretty sure that I'm going to choose a major.
