why there also happens meiosos II for formation of 4 haploid cells?? y 2 haploid cells r not enf???

the first division in meiosis is actually separation of homologous chromosomes and which results in haploid condition itself. the crossing over happens in phase I, but the second division is for creating more diversity I guess.. is there any specific reason, please share..
