Part 1: Explain, in complete sentences, how to use the distributive property to simplify the expression below. 2(x + 3) Part 2: Write the simplified expression

Parth (parthkohli):

Hmm..\[\heartsuit (\clubsuit + \spadesuit) = \heartsuit\clubsuit +\heartsuit \spadesuit \]That is the distributive property.

To do that you need to take the number on the outsideof the parenthesis and multipy it by every thing in the parenthesis. Then you write it just like that. Do you understand a little better now? for example: 3(x+4) = 3x+12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x + 12= u have to multiply the 3 to the x which makes it 3x & then u leave the + sign & then u actually have to multiply the 3 with 4 which makes it 12 i just wanna put it all together so it would be more helpful.
