How do Realists and Romanticists differ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Realism is all about facts and science, Romanticism is about imagination and feelings.

oh my god. So easy, its in the name :) Realists focus on realism -.- like reason, science, logic, facts, etc while Romanticists are idealists, emotional, spiritual, etc. Also Realism in any artistic medium, be it literary, visual, or cinematic, expresses the most glorious and the cruelest aspects of the human condition. Realism attempts to ground the viewer, to remind us of the base creatures that make up our complex existence. Romanticism expresses one artist's view on how existence *should* be. Romanticism gives us goals to strive for; even though in reality we can never obtain them, it raises our consciousness to try.
