Jaiden once loved going to the doctor's office because the doctor always gave him a sticker. However, the last three times he has gone, the doctor has given him shots that hurt and make him cry with pain. Now when the doctor hands him the sticker he begins to scream. Identify the elements of classical conditioning below. 1) UCS 2) UCR 3) CS 4) CR 5) NS A) Shot B) Sticker (Before the Conditioning) C) Sticker (After the Conditioning) D) Screaming in Pain E) Scream Match the letters and numbers for each component. I don't understand this.

Well okay, it's not that complicated once you get a grasp on the whole concept. 1) UCS is an unconditioned stimulus making the answer A) shot 2) UCR is a response to an unconditioned stimulus making the answer E) scream 3) CS is paired or present with an unconditioned stimulus making the answer C) sticker after the conditioning 4) CR is the response to the conditioned stimulus making the answer D) screaming in pain 5) NS is a neutral stimulus making the answer B) sticker before the conditioning

akc5228 0 So basically Jaiden once loved going to the doctor's office because the doctor always gave him a sticker (or a neutral stimulus). However, the last three times he has gone, the doctor has given him shots (or an uncontrolled stimulus) that hurt and make him cry with pain. Now when the doctor hands him the sticker (Jaiden's brain assocaites the sticker with the pain he felt the other time when the doctor gave him 3 shots and a sticker) he begins to scream (which is now the conditioned stimulus) since last time he got a sticker, he was in pain because of the shot. Did that make it a little clearer? Lol. If not, just let me know what exactly needs clarifying and I'll be happy to help.

I think the Unconditioned Response was actually him "screaming in pain." And that the Conditioned Response is just the "scream." The first time Jaiden gets the shot, he doesn't know what to expect. He screams, because of the pain. That's why I think that his screaming "in pain" is the Unconditioned Response, because the needle hurts him. After he's conditioned, every time he sees a sticker, he screams. And he's not screaming in pain, because obviously, the sticker wouldn't hurt. So, that's why I think that his simply "screaming" would be the Conditioned Response. I'm looking at the paragraph, and I see that "the last three times he has gone, the doctor has given him shots that hurt and make him cry with pain."
