x^3-5x^2-66x=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does it really say \(x^3-5x-66x=0\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i guess it is really \[x^3-71x=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait 5x^2 sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x^3-5x^2-66x=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

start with \[x(x^2-5x-66)=0\] one solution is obviously \(x=0\) to find the others solve \[x^2-5x-66=0\] by the quadratic formula, or factoring if you think it factors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by some miracle this one does factor as \[x^2-5x-66=0\] \[(x-11)(x+6)=0\]and then you should be good to go

Thank you so much (:
