What imression do we get of scrooge when it says he is "hard and sharp as flint"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He is very cold and indifferent to the suffering of others. "Hard" implies he is not yielding - compassion does not sway his actions. "Sharp" suggests he is abrasive and mean; he does not bother with politeness and treats his employees without any kindness.
