OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are solids at r.t , usually brittle and lustorus and are fair to good electrical conductors - these are physical properties , below are there chemical properties . They have ionization energies usually between those of metals and nonmetals and have electro-negativity values close to 2 on the pauling scale . There oxides are amphoteric or weakly acidic and they can form alloys when combined with metals . They are to be found in groups 13 to 17 and periods 2 to 6 on the P.T .
