4(x-3)=4 what is x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know where to start??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really no

what we need to do is get x by itself. how do you think we can do that? we have to move alll the other numbers over to the other side. the first thing we can do is divide both sides by 4. this will get rid of the 4 thats on the side with the x, and we will end up with x-3=1. then we add 3 to both sides, and we get x=4

ok thanks
