what do you get when you factor j^2-2j+1

there are at least 3 ways to solve this:
1. completing the square (see @jim_thompson5910 hint)
2. turn into standard quadratic equation and factorize that
3. turn into standard quadratic equation and use the quadratic formula to solve

1. is probably the easiest method in this case.
