need help understanding on how to get answer. two more than four times a number is -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4X+2=-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if "more than" means addition and "times" mean multiplication then we might write your questions as 2 + 4*x = -10 now isolate x and solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4X MUST BE WRITTEN FIRST AS NOT TO MAKE A MISTAKE WITH "LESS THAN TO" E.G. "4 LESS THAN A NUMBER" SHOULD BE WRITTEN AS "X-4" AND NOT "4-X"

There is no need for caps. My suggestion follows the same structure as the question as presented. I agree that your suggestion makes sense in that it is less error prone, but it is not the way it "MUST" be written.
