OpenStudy (lukebluefive):

\[y = (x+1)(x+3) = x^2 + 4x +3\]

It's multiple choice and I don't see that as an answer D:

OpenStudy (lukebluefive):

What are the choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The choices are : y = x^4 –4x^3 – 4x^2 – 4x – 3 y = –x^4 + 4x^3 + 4x^2 + 4x + 3 y = x^4 +4x^3 + 3x^2 + 4x – 4 y = x^4 + 4x^3 +4x^2 + 4x + 3

OpenStudy (lukebluefive):

Sorry, thought you misspelled quadratic as quartic. The last option, \[y = x^4 + 4x^3 + 4x^2 + 4x + 3 = (x+1)(x+3)(x^2 + 1)\]

Thank you :D I couldn't figure out the answer for the longest time.

OpenStudy (lukebluefive):

You're very welcome. I just tried factoring (x+1)(x+3) out of the equations.
