can someone check this?
Many individuals in the United States are being diagnosed with cancer every day. To be precise, studies have shown that 557,190 people are expected to die due to cancer in this present year (CancerFacts), making cancer the second most common cause of death in the U.S. Through out the years of research, scientists have yet not found the cure for cancer. Millions of victims are being treated with the so famous chemotherapy, hoping this will help reduce the cancerous cells. As many of us might know, chemotherapy is the use of drugs and other medicament that causes atrocious symptoms to the patient including: fatigue, nausea, hair loss, lack of appetite and depression. Doctors have worked for years searching for an alternative to reduce the pain that their patients and going through. Activities such as visiting a spa, practicing meditation and eating healthy foods are many of the suggestions and although they help reduce the pain, it is only temporary. In order to encounter a solution to this problem, doctors and scientist have overlooked to the products that aren’t currently legal in the United States. One of the major finding was marijuana or now known as medical marijuana. This drug has been a key to many cancer victims to minimize their agony caused by the constant chemo. Their only obstacle is that marijuana is known as a schedule 1 drug under the state law next to heroin. States such as California and currently Washington have legalized the use of medical marijuana for medical purposes as opposed to the majority of the United States that still prohibits the use of this drug. The reason for this act is that marijuana has been known to cause short and long-term effects such as loss of coordination and even lung cancer. On the other hand, marijuana has been proven to reduce the pain of patients undergoing chemotherapy. For instance, many family members of cancer patients have noticed the change that their siblings have been going through after consuming medical marijuana. From improving their appetite to ceasing their agony, marijuana was their best friend in the last days of their life. Patients have the right to decide what they want to do with their bodies in the last stages of their life, if medical marijuana is going to help them live without pain then let them be. The illegalization of this drug has not only inflated our prisons with nonviolent individuals but it is also denying the rights of freedom to all cancer patients that would love to live their last days without any discomfort.
