A stroke and a heart attack are the same thing. True False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true

OpenStudy (blues):

A heart attack occurs when a coronary artery (artery supplying the heart muscles with blood) gets blocked and fresh blood can't get through. A stroke is when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and blood can't get to the tissues in the brain (and blood in the bleeding spot collects and pushes against the brain)....

blues is right. A heart attack has more to do with the heart, and the damage that is done to the heart muscle. A stroke, on the other hand, has more to do with the brain. When the brain cannot get enough oxygen, parts of the brain begin to die. So, they really are not the same thing. Here, take a look at this article: http://firstaid.about.com/od/heartattacks/f/08_CVA_vs_AMI.htm
