Write the equation of the line which passes through (5, –2) and is parallel to x = 4. (1 point)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=4 is a vertical line right? so a line parallel to it must be vertical also. the equation of vertical lines is just x=an x coordinate of a point on the line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please so work to it? I'm not understanding this at all -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On a vertical line, all the x coordinates are the same. So if you know the point (5,-2) is on a line that is parallel to a vertical line, you know the equation must be x=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg... i feel dumb now.. i get it xD thaanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you don't have to do any equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope if you have a point and know its a vertical or horizontal line you can just look at it and see what it is.
