contrapositives in geometry- i dont understand at all...help plez!

a contrapositve means you negate and switch the hypothesis and the conclusion

for example in geometry... say the conditional statement is "if two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, then alternate interior angles are congruent" the contrapositive statement would be "if alternate interior angles are NOT congruent, then the lines cut by a transversal are NOT parallel" all i did was swithc the two statements and negate them both, that is what contrapositive is.
