i dont understand when u do x- 1/ x-1 wouldnt the 2 and 2x will get multiplied as well?

but how come the steps shown dont multiply them..

and this should simplify the function, how come i feel like it's getting more complicated

\[(2+2x)(1-x)=2(1+x)(1-x)=2(1-x^2)=2-2x^2\]

they just let you fill in the steps yourself
