Suppose a parabola has an axis of symmetry at x = –7, a maximum height of 4, and also passes through the point (–6, 0). Write the equation of the parabola in vertex form.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

vertex form is y = a (x - h)^2 + k vertex is (h, k) in your question you will have y = a(x + 7)^2 + 4 substitute the point (-6, 0) to find the value of a... it should be negative since the maximum is 4... indicatiing a parabola that is concave down.
