An astronomer would most likely use parallax to see the Doppler shift in a star. measure the distance to a star. measure the temperature of a star. see the emission spectrum of a star.
Someone please help!
i know the answer.. but i don't wanna just give it away... do you know what parallax is?
a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight, and is measured by the angle
good... now.. what do you think.. if the object is far away .. the parallax effect is more.. isn't that right?
Distance ?
bingo! ;-)
Thanks so much! :)
Infact they HEAVILY rely on parallax to measure the distance... they would use doppler shift to calculate the VELOCITY of the galaxies and stars moving away from us!.. we would use the wein's displacement law for the temperature!
no probs!
