In which area did the French culture influence Indochina?

The french kind of created indochina so to speak if i understand, they occupied it as a territory http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Indochina
it was the Vietnam War that kicked them out
when another nation occupies a territory they try to influence all of there culture on them language religion food schooling etc :) Sometimes only certain things stick, ex Mexico adopted Spanish and roman catholic religion from Spain
