Given that the first term is 1, what is the 100th term of the sequence {1,2,4,7,11...}?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I need helps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, don't tag everyone in maths group.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, do you know another way to get a huge amount of helps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ITS ANNOYING - NO ONE WILL HELP YOU IF YOU FRIGGIN TAG PEOPLE. you're only getting a block from me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Blocking won't stop you from getting tagged. And watch the language.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we can start by determining if there is a pattern that can be discovered from the given values

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1 2 4 7 11 +1 +2 +3 +4 +1 +1 +1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we can pull of the first term in each row to form an equation with 1+1(n) + 1(n)(n-1)/2 should work, this has something to do with pascals triangle in effect 1 + n + n^2/2 - n/2 (2 + n + n^2)/2 ; for n=0,1,2,3,...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the 100th term in this case is n=99 since we start at 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 100th term is 4951, right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

let me ask my calculator :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what my calculator told me haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good. Thank for helps, and sorry for tagged many users, though.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i dont think that remark meant to be directed to you, but we have had an issue with a person causing trouble today that has been making a list of users in tagged format. And that person has been rather annoying

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck :)
