Ted wants to hang a wall clock on the wall by using a string. If the mass of the wall clock is 0.250 kilograms, what should be the tension of the string so that it can sustain the weight of the wall clock

OpenStudy (nubeer):

the tension is the upward force and weight is a downward force.. so to balance both forces should be some.. means tension would be same as the wight T = W T = mg (W=mg) just plug in values of mass and gravity that is your tension.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

Tension in the string = weight (mg) = 0.25kg x 9.8 N/kg .. T = 2.45N .. or answer would be 2.50N
