OpenStudy (anonymous):

first to help gets medal! Literature written centuries ago, such as Old English literature and Renaissance literature, is taught and studied today alongside more modern works. Literature from past eras employs a very different style of writing from contemporary literature. Is it worth reading and analyzing scarcely recognizable forms of English in literature from past eras? When you read older literature, do you and your peers get anything useful for your effort, or could your time be better spent on more recent or contemporary literature? Use examples to illustrate your ideas.
