OpenStudy (anonymous):

im suppose to translate that into an algebraic expression....

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I know, what does "twice x" translate to

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ie how do you write it out algebraically?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what im trying to figure out, i know that twice means multiplcation and sum of means addition

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good, so "twice x" means 2 times x, 2*x or just 2x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sum means addition, so the "sum of twice x and y" is the result of adding 2x and y to get 2x+y
