The costs for three different types of ribbon are $.79 for 1 yard,$1.95 for three yards, and $2.94 for six yards. Whitch is the best buy?

OpenStudy (nubeer):

2.94 for six yard is the best one.

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 6 yards because for 6 yards of the 79 cents one would be 4.75 and we all know 1.95 times 3 is more than 2.49

o solve this break the cost of the ribbon down to the cost per yard. Then they can be evenly compared. A = .79, B = .65 and C = .49 which make C ($2.94 for 6 yards ) the best value.
