What are the advantages in CAM and C4 photosynthesis?

The main difference between a C3 and a C4 plant during photosynthesis is that the C4 plants separate the light reactions & dark reactions into 2 different types of cells (Mesophyll & Bundle-sheath).

The bundle-sheath cell that the Calvin Cycle occurs in is impermeable to O2, which drastically reduces the amount of O2 that is accidentally fixed, and dramatically increases the amount of C that is fixed, producing a higher rate of Carbon fixation.
