Factors limiting Cell size?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I recall right it's because of the ratio of a cell's surface area to it's volume. A cell needs to export waste and import nutrients & food through the cellular membrane. It has to maintain a high ratio of surface area:volume for efficient material transport. If the cell grows, its volume outpaces the surface area.

Yea thats what the book said! But thanks! Atleast i was right! I don't think there are anymore right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that's the main limiting factor :) I'm not exactly an expert though D:
