what helped the north industrialize?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The North industrialized due to the fact that its soil was poor and not full of nutrients, unlike that of the South's. This caused the North to find an alternative economic industry (due to the lack of agriculture.) This led to the industrialization of the North and the farm-based economy of the South. The industrialization of the North allowed the northerners to produce manufactured items, while the South's rich soil allowed for its production of crops.
