Simplify the expression: -2 (6a) - (-3) (-7a)

OpenStudy (rob1525):

Just multiply everything out. so -2*6a is -12a and -1*(-3) is what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sooo -12a*3?

OpenStudy (rob1525):

I was just trying to get to the law of multiplying two negative equals a positive. so (-3)*(-7a) is positive 21a.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! But the choices are 19a, 33a^2, and -33a

OpenStudy (rob1525):

right so -12a-21a is...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oooohhhh!! pellet dude, derp :P -33a right?

hartnn (hartnn):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
