if the width of a rectangle is 7 inches and its perimeter is 46 inches, find the length of the rectangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perimeter is 2 length plus 2 width or P=2l+2w if width is 7 we know thats 7 times 2 which is 14 we then could set it up 46=2L +14 what you would do is subtract 14 from both sides then divide that answer by 2 and you get L so your length is 16 does that make sense? Hope this helps! -Ginny ^_^
