What is the difference between plot and theme? Use either “The Emperor’s New Clothes” or “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” to give examples of plot and theme. Your written response should include a minimum of 5-6 sentences.

The plot of the story is the story line or events and action in the story. The theme is the meaning of the work or the life lesson that the readers should learn as a result of readin the story. In the Emperors New Clothes the plot was basically that the two men claimed that they could make clothes for the emperor of the finest material. These men also said that anyone who could not see the fine cloth, that was nearly invisible, was stupid. There are many themes in the story, but the two main themes are pride and vanity. Pride was displayed because all of the people who saw the emperor "wearing" his new outfit could not see the material, but claimed to see it because they did not want to be called stupid. Vanity was a theme because the emperor loved clothes so much and was willing to pay so much money for the "material" that the men claimed to be making for him.
