Set up: There are four plants: Green Bean, butter bean, rye grass and a sunflower. These plants grow rather quickly. The green bean plant is placed under white light and is used as the control. The butter bean is placed under green light, the rye grass plant under red light and the sunflower under blue light. All the plants are watered one cup of water every other day and kept under the light the same amount of time. At the end of 4 weeks, the sunflower plant grows the most. What is wrong with this experiment?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This experiment isn't really a "controlled experiment." Do you already know what a "controlled experiment" is? A controlled experiment is where we make sure that EVERYTHING about the experiment is the same, except for just ONE thing, and ONE thing only. Let's list all the things about this experiment that are the same: 1. All of the plants are watered with the same amount of water. 2. All of the plants are watered at the same time. 3. All of the plants are kept under the light for the same amount of time. Now, those parts of the experiment are all the same. In a controlled experiment, there should only be ONE thing that is different. But this isn't a controlled experiment. Do you know which things are different?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The difference is there all different kinds of plants, they should all be the same kind under different lighting

O.o this is a question that was given to me??? i did not create it..??? this question was on a test and it confused me.. so i decided to put it on here -_- at least zero didn't give me an answer that isn't really an answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know you didn't create it. I'm trying to help you solve it, by guiding you through it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What? You're not interested in learning how to solve these kinds of problems on your own? You just want the answer, straight up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shes obviously to lazy to take the time to learn it herself..no offence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-.- well nvm >.< i didn't understand it because the answer was right in front of my face and i didn't think of reading "in between the lines"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is 0ozeroo0 right? Are you too lazy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im just gunna do it myself -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i am right :P i know her personaly >:) very well accualy, she almost as lazy as me.and good job emo thats probobly the better idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The very first sentence, in my response, was the simple answer to your question. You didn't have to read "in between" anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not LAZY -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't even really read the question thoroughly.. all i did was skim through it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my god she only skimmed through it, it's not her fault AHHH!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's fine. I understand. Good luck with the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks to you im confuzed -_- now good bye and let me get to wrk

OpenStudy (anonymous):
