Can someone please help me understand the integral test better in regards to finding convergence/divergence of a series?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean the cauchy's integral test?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm I don't think so. Like there are 8 tests I believe to determine whether or not a series diverges or not and the integral test is one of them. It involves the series going from 1 to infinity and then looking at it as a function. I'm pretty confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we usually take the nth term of a p-series as a function and apply the limit to infinity and find the integration of the function in the limit(ie its total value) if its finite it is convergent and if not it is divergent obviously

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the full name for this test is cauchy's integral test http://mathworld.wolfram.com/IntegralTest.html

oh ok. Thank you!

:)..welcome
