Can someone please explain how to do this? The function g is defined by g(x)=2x^2-8x+11 for x is less than and equal to A, where A is a constant. State the largest value of A for which g has an inverse.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[g(x)=2x^2-8x+11 for x \le A. \]

this is just a parabola ... use the definition of function. A function cannot have two values. For inverse ... swap x and y axis ... you will get A=2 http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=plot+%7C+2+x%5E2-8+x%2B11
