11z-3-7z=9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mmm what is (11-7)z =

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes... 11z-3-7z=9 means (11-7)z-3 = 9 which gives 4z-3 = 9; Now do you want to solve for z?

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

thats where i get stuck

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

3 to get 9?

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

sorry my message didnt sent completely

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

do i find a number to multiply

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

do i find a number to multiply 4 with and then subtract it from 3 to get 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well let us get moving fromwher you got stuck..... equality has a property that if you add or subtract or multiply or divide by same number on both side of equality the result won't be altered.... so.... that is a+b =x is same as a+b+c= x+c a+b-c= x-c (a+b)*c= x*c (a+b)/c = x/c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you can find a number which satisfies your rlation by using above property of equality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any idea how?

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

4 times 3 =12-3=9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How you got 4 times 3??

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

4z= 4(3)=12 or am i wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes... the method you followed is a round about way...but there is an alternate simple 100% guarntry way using the above property wanna learn it?

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

yes please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) so aftr simplification of 11z-3-7z=9 we got 4z-3 = 9 now add 3 to both sides of equality ( the result will not change because of the property a+b =x is same as a+b+c= x+c) what you get

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please type full equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means both RHS and LHS

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

rhs? lhs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means RHS = Right Hand Side LHS = Left Hand Side of equation

OpenStudy (erniellyd28):

im so lost im very sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this equation a+b =x a+b is LHS x is RHS
