I have to write this presentation thing and I would really appreciate it if someone could help with this question ill give a medal/become a fan What is independent assortment? When does it occur during meiosis? How did you model this element of meiosis? Which part of meiosis, meiosis I or meiosis II, is responsible for reducing the chromosome number by half in the cell?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Independent assortment is the way chromosomes from a pair can go into either daughter cell. This means that when you draw a Punnett square to work out the possible offspring of a cross then either of the male parental alleles can combine with either of the female parental alleles. The rest should be readily available on this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiosis
