An electron is moving horizontally to the right at a speed or 4 x 10^6ms^-1. It enters a region of length 20cm in which there is an electic field of 1 x 10^3NC^-1 pointing downward as shown in diagram below 1. How long does it spend travelling from A to B 2. By how much and in what direction is the electron deflected, when it leaves the electric field? Describe the motionof the particle in the electric field and draw a rough sketch on the path 3. What is the magnitude of the vertical component of the velocity of the electron, when it leaves the electric field

4. What is the speed of the electron when it leaves the electric field. 5 Through what angle has the electron been deflected when it leaves the electric field 6. Describe and draw the rough sketch of its subsequent motion

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Acceleration in constant because the electric field is constant. The motion will be similar to that of a projectile but the parabola will curve upwards.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.)~5*10^-8 sec. 2.)the electron is deflected in the south direction finally it makes an angle of \[\tan^{-1} 2\] with the horizontal x axis the motion is a non standard parabola opening towards the negative x axis|dw:1353400043578:dw| 3.)perpendicular component of velocity is 8*10^6m/s 4.)the speed is ~9*10^6 m/s 5.)\[\tan^{-1} 2\] 6.)parabola|dw:1353400247551:dw|
