If you mean your entrance essay, then go with academic vocabulary. They like to see big words.

Definitely more academic vocabulary. Colleges want to see that you have put a lot of work int your application and essays because this shows that you are serious about wanting to attend their school. Plus, bigger words and a better vocabulary will make you sound even more intelligent than you already are.
